Memorial Scholarship
Aimee Melissa Davis
Aimee Melissa Davis was eight years old when she was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. In 1993, at the age of 18, she died from complications related to her diabetes. Her family set up a scholarship fund in her name through the American Diabetes Association–Texas Affiliate. Eight scholarships were awarded. When the Texas Affiliate closed, the remaining principal balance was transferred in 1999 into the Austin Community Foundation, which now administers the fund in a permanent endowment.
Memorial Scholarship
Over the past years, Aimee's family has received much comfort and fulfillment from meeting and recognizing many brave young people who have struggled with and overcome the burdens of insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus by completing and excelling in their scholastic endeavors.
A scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school senior from the Austin area who has been accepted to college, who has juvenile diabetes and who has financial need. As the amount of the permanent endowment is increased, the amount and/or number of scholarships awarded each year will also be increased. With your support, Aimee's family hopes to continue to award the Aimee Melissa Davis Memorial Scholarship until there is a cure for insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus.
